Honda was founded by Soichiro Honday, a mechanic who developed his own idea for piston rings in 1938, after working at Art Shokai. He attempted to sell them to Toyota cars, who contracted with him. He built a facility to meet Toyota’s demands, but it was almost completely destroyed during World War II.
With what he had left in the Japanese market, Soichiro Honda created a new company. Since his country had been decimated by the war, and was starved for both cash and fuel, but still needed basic, reliable transportation, he attached an engine to a bicycle. This would be the beginning of the “Honda Reasearch Institute Company, Ltd.” While the official Japanese name remains with the company, what the rest of the world knows as the Honda Motor Company was officially founded on September 24, 1948.
Soichiro Honda quickly recovered from the losses incurred during the war by producing and selling a range of motorcycles and scooters. The American Honda Company was founded in 1958, and the first Honda motorcycle was introduced to the US market just a year later. By the 1970’s Honda cars was the largest producer of motorcycles around, and it retains that title. It wasn’t until 1963 that the first production vehicle from Honda that wasn’t some kind of bike, was first offered in the Japanese market. It was the T360, a small pickup truck with four different body styles and a 30 hp engine. Two months later the first Honda automobile was released - the S500 two door roaster with a 44hp engine and a 4-speed transmission, and the rear wheels were chain-driven.
In 1972, with the introduction of the Civic, Honda finally established its presence in the American automobile market, partly because it was smaller than most American cars. Later, in 1975, the Civic gained popularity because it’s engine could pass emissions tests without the addition of a catalytic converter or a smog pump, and it also offered better fuel efficiency. Later, in 1986, Honda became the first Japanese car maker to offer its own line of luxury vehicles. Marketed under the name Acura, these are sportier, more powerful redesigns of existing Honda cars. With the current pushes for safety and alternative fuel, Honda is already leading the way. It began selling the hybrid Insight in 1999, and now has hybrid models of its popular Civics and Accords. In addition, Honda was the first Japanese auto maker to include air bags, and it now has side-curtain airbags standard on most vehicles, and plans to add stability control features to its entire line by 2008.
Today, Honda’s Civic and Honda Accord cars, as well as the Odyssey, remain popular choices for American consumers.

In the news: Mercedes-Benz has recently announced that approximately more than 38 percent of all new Mercedes cars sold in Europe consume fewer than 6.5 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers. And that’s not all, one in every five Mercedes-Benz cars offer a fuel consumption of no more than 5 liters per 100 kilometers. DaimlerChrysler’s Mercedes currently offers a total of eleven passenger car models with average consumption ranging from 4.9 to 6.5 liters per 100 kilometers.
Last year, almost 34 percent of all Mercedes customers in Germany preferred new cars for sale with a fuel consumption of below 6.5 liters per 100 kilometers. While an approximate of 18 percent German customers have chosen models with no more than 5 liters per 100 kilometers. Mercedes-Benz so far is the only premium brand to provide customers with such an extensive range of low-consumption models, including compact cars, saloons, sport tourers, and coupe cars.
From among the Mercedes range the A160 CDI is the most fuel-efficient Mercedes model of all, with a combined fuel consumption of 4.9 to 5.2 liters per 100 kilometers depending on the tire size. Mercedes-Benz compact car boast an output of 60kW/82 hp and capable of driving 1100 kilometers on a single tank of fuel (54 liters). The executive models of Mercedes-Benz such as the E 200 CDI and the E 220 CDI offer a fuel consumption of about 6 liters per 100 kilometers. The four-cylinder saloons with a recorded output of 100 kW/136 hp and 125 kW/170 hp consume only about 6.3 liters of diesel per 100 kilometers but if on a full tank meaning 65 liters it can cover an extra 1000 kilometers. Likewise, the optional 80 liter fuel tank of the CDI saloons boosts its driving range to over 1250 kilometers which is similar to driving from Berlin to Florence.
The Mercedes-Benz C-Class is further reduced by 0.3 liters per 100 kilometers and in the New European Driving Cycle or NEDC the new C 200 CDI and C 200 CDI models marked a fuel consumption of only 6.1 liters per 100 kilometers.
Here is the list of Mercedes-Benz cars with their corresponding output and fuel consumption:
* A 150- 70 kW/95hp; 6.2-6.7 * A 160 CDI- 60 kW/82hp; 4.9-5.2 * A 180 CDI- 80 kW/109 hp; 5.2-5.7 * A 200 CDI- 103 kW/140 hp; 5.4-5.7 * B 180 CDI- 80 kW/109 hp; 5.6-5.8 * C 200 CDI Saloon- 100 kW/136 hp; 6.1 * C 220 CDI Saloon 125 kW/170 hp; 6.1 * CLK 220 CDI Coupe- 110 kW/150 hp; 6.4-6.5 * E 200 CDI Saloon- 100 kW/136 hp; 6.3 * E 220 CDI Saloon- 125 kW/170 hp; 6.3
In the past years, Mercedes-Benz have not always made fuel consumption as their topmost priority but due to the increasing demand for fuel efficient vehicles they decided to finally joined the bandwagon. The main focus of Mercedes-Benz in the past is creating luxury cars that are loaded with comfort features although that policy is still employed for its new models but the fuel economy has become an important part of the whole car building equation.
One of the popular models produced by Mercedes-Benz is its SL-Class Luxury series. The SL means “Sport Light” or in German Sport Leicht. The SL-Class range is comprised of the following: 350SL, 450 SL, 280 SL, 380 SL, 500 SL, 300 SL, 300 SL-24, 420 SL and 560 SL. —these are just some of the very first range of SL-Class model produced until 1989. Further advancement and modification were done on the SL-Class. Production of auto parts of the first generation of SL-Class like the Mercedes 450SL parts are still continued to provide avid SL-class owners with the quality Mercedes 450SL part that they need.

Demand for hybrid cars for sale has sharply grown over the past three years, as pump prices continue to surge and eating a considerable part of the household budget. Hybrid cars may not be the complete solution to rising oil prices but they are very economical, as they rely more on electricity instead of gas for power. For 2006, business conditions have remained turbulent. The current crisis in Israel and Lebanon will likely have an adverse effect on oil markets given that they are very near the world’s top oil producers. Other issues that will keep gas prices high include China’s demand, terrorist attacks on refineries and volatility in stock markets. Is 2006 finally the right time to jump on the bandwagon for hybrid cars? For 2006, the top Japanese car makers Honda cars and Toyota cars have released an impressive line of hybrid cars that have been updated to conform with the demands of the daily driver. The hybrid cars for 2006 promises more power behind the steering wheel but gas consumption will be comparable to a child guzzling a bad-tasting cough syrup.
Honda 2006 Accord Hybrid
The new Accord Hybrid from Honda is 4-door sedan ideal for families with 2-3 kids. This car comes in two trims and 5-speed automatic transmission. Overdrive option is standard equipment. For those that enjoy long and leisurely rides, Honda is offering a Accord Hybrid equipped with a Navigation system.
Both trims are powered by a standard V6, 3.0-liter, 253-horsepower engine. The Accord Hybrid is capable of 25-mpg in city driving and 34-mpg in highway driving. The Honda Accord Hybrid is well suited for the highways and boasts of excellent responsiveness and outstanding acceleration.
The 2006 Honda Accord Hybrid has been criticized for its disappointing fuel economy but lauded for its outstanding performance especially in fast-driving. The car battery used in the car is relatively low in power and supposed does not effectively maximize the hybrid technology unlike rival models. Some users have also been critical over the “rough” automatic transmission shifting between gears and poor flawed synchronization between engine and battery.
Honda 2006 Civic Hybrid
The new Honda Civic Hybrid car is a 4-door sedan ideal for small families. The vehicle comes in two trims namely the the CVT AT-PZEV w/ Navigation System and the CVT AT-PZEV. A standard I4 1.3-liter 110-horsepower hybrid engine powers the 2006 Civic Hybrid car. This model has the capability to run 49-mpg in city driving and 51-mpg in highway drives.
The 2006 Civic Hybrid car is a top-notch performer especially for who are looking for the perfect driving experience. The interior has been lauded for its attractive lay-out and design. Gas consumption is exceptional, as delivers near or slightly above its specifications.
However, the 2006 Civic Hybrid has been criticized more on its ambitious despite. The digital speedometer is a nice new touch but can be distracting especially during night drives. The Civic Hybrid only comes with rear drum brakes, which is disappointing considering that the Civic has been named car of the year.
The hand brake is also placed on odd location and will be discomforting for those with large thighs. The 2006 Civic Hybrid is a “driver’s car” and will perform best when used in the highways.
2006 Toyota Prius
Updated for 2006, the new Toyota Prius car is a 4-door sedan, ideal for small families. This hybrid car only comes in one trim has a 4-Door Liftback.
The 2006 Toyota Prius is powered with by a standard I4, 1.5-liter, hybrid engine running 110-horsepower. In city driving, the Prius can achieve 60-mpg and 51-mpg in highway driving.
The Prius features a spacious interior that can easily fit small families. Ideal for pedestrian drivers but those conscious with performance should stay away, as acceleration is slow. In addition, consumers have also been disappointed over the inability of the car to reach its advertised consumption and high price. For those tht want to save the world the Prius is great but look the other way if you want to save money.

BMW’S redesigned 7 Series was revealed for the first time in early July ahead of its official world debut at the Paris motor show on October 2 – and now have been given a sneak preview of the first ever hybrid version of BMW’s flagship model.
The 7 Series ActiveHybrid will be revealed as part of BMW’s all-new limousine range, including the 750i sedan upon which it is based, at the same show Mercedes-Benz car will unveil its first S-class mild hybrid - the S400 Blue Hybrid, which was developed under a joint-venture program with BMW and goes on sale in Europe in mid-2009.
BMW cars is expected to produce a second-generation version of the hydrogen-powered Hydrogen 7, but the 7 Series mild hybrid is expected to enter production for the US before it in late 2009 – though it may not be offered in right-hand drive guise for markets like Australia.
It differs from the Concept X6 ActiveHybrid revealed last year in that the X6 hybrid concept is a full parallel or dual-mode hybrid that, unlike the 7 Series ActiveHybrid, can be driven in electric-only mode and is the product of a joint-venture hybrid program between Daimler and General Motors. Both the BMW and Mercedes-Benz mild hybrid limousines employ a boot-mounted lithium-ion battery pack (in what Benz claims is the first series-production application of such technology), as well as regenerative braking and idle-stop technology.
But the 7 Series ActiveHybrid differs from the 3.5-litre V6-powered petrol-electric S400 via its use of the new twin-turbocharged direct-injection 4.4-litre V8, which BMW says delivers the same 300kW and 600Nm of torque as offered by the X6 50i.
Combined with the 15kW and 210Nm of peak torque produced by an electric motor integrated into the transmission housing, replacing the alternator and starter, the 7 Series hybrid produces a total of 315kW and 810Nm.
But while the S400 is claimed to deliver combined performance outputs of 220kW and 385Nm with an average fuel consumption of 7.9L/100km, BMW says only that the 7 Series hybrid reduces fuel consumption by 15 per cent compared to the 750i.
In typical BMW style, this new concept car combines a significant reduction in fuel consumption and emissions with a standard of driving dynamics never seen before even in this class of hybrid cars.

All five models here are important milestones for their manufacturers. This site is ‘Indian’ so, considering the Indian Market, the Beamer and VW are our favourites. The Volkswagen car and BMW car clean diesels are leading edge models signaling the advent of highly efficient, advanced diesel sedans that meet all emission certifications worldwide. Ford’s Fusion Hybrid, a full hybrid, is this automaker’s first hybrid sedan. Saturn’s Vue 2-Mode is GM’s first application of its two mode hybrid system in a V6 front-drive platform. The smart fortwo is a micro car with a very small eco footprint.
Of all the five cars for sale, the 335d and the Jetta are the only diesel engined cars. These two cars, keep showing to the world that, Internal combustion engine is still alive, and can give Hybrids a run for their money! What amazed us is Jetta, which gets featured in almost all green journals- the latest being the EPA list. Quite simply the Jetta has become synonymous to fuel economy!

According to studies, fast cars are more often involved in road accidents compared to other types of cars like hatchback cars, coupe cars, SUV cars etc. People who drive their fast cars almost to the limits sometimes lose control of their cars that they end up either skidding off the road, get into collision with other vehicles and other forms road accidents. However, the good news is that although fast cars are often involved in road accidents, these incidents are not really much related to the technical defects or the overall set-up of the vehicle itself.
Experts believe that fast cars are actually built to perform well on the road but the driving skills of the people behind the wheels may not be at par with the power of the fast car. In most cases, the drivers of fast cars overestimate their driving skills and end up losing control of their cars. Since accidents do happen, it is therefore very important to drive carefully and never abuse the power of your fast car. Furthermore, before you do buy cars, you should check out the safety features of the car thoroughly.
Safety Features That You Should Look For In Fast Cars
The first thing that you need to check when buying fast cars for sale is the safety features. Your car should have antilock braking systems (ABS). The ABS will allow you to stop your car fast. Good ABS will help you deal with certain tight situations on the road. During panic stops, the ABS will allow you to steer you car and prevent any untoward incidents. To learn more about the ABS of fast cars, ask your car dealer to explain to you in details how this feature works. You may also ask the car dealer to demonstrate how the ABS works so that you will have a concrete idea of how your car will perform in tight situations.
Aside from the ABS, you should take a closer look into the traction control of the fast car. This feature will help prevent traction loss while your car is speeding. This feature can be very helpful especially during extreme weathers and when you are driving at top speed in some winding road. Combined with the ABS, the traction control will help you keep your car stable on the road even during bad weathers.
However, since this feature do have its own limitations, driving slowly and carefully during extreme weather conditions is still very much advisable. Never for one moment think that because your car have good safety features, you can still drive fast even during extreme weather conditions.
On the other hand, since accidents do happen, it always pays to check the airbag features of the fast car before you buy it. Look for airbags at the front and side of the car. Knee airbags are also very important.

The world is actually faced with tremendous problems these days. To mention, we have the major worries in line with greenhouse gases, overpopulation, unemployment, global warming, and the escalating prices of gas and the basic commodities. What makes life hard is the rise in the cost of gasoline since it maneuvers the other commodity prices. With this, a hope has been given to the consumers and that is in the form of the water powered cars.
Many people have been taken aback by the concept regarding water powered cars. They can’t believe that such thing may be bound to reach its peak of possibility. But there is no point denying it, scientists and researchers have taken a big step towards unearthing the chances of generating cars for sale which can be powered by water itself instead of gasoline. For now, a hundred percent of the vehicles and trucks are under careful observation. These water powered cars are being experimented on so that during the time that it is to be launched for the public’s use, no flaw may be made visible. Although the operations are really tedious and complex, the people in charge of the procedure are more than willing to provide the consumers with an economical way of enjoying their treasured possessions–their cars!
There are two versions in existence–the water powered car and the hybrid water powered car. The latter has been assessed to be more useful and that which works remarkably. As per the researches done by the maverick engineers are concerned, it has been revealed that the hybrid water powered cars are more capable of improving the car’s mileage and saving the environment at the same time. Some really once unbelievable occurences may occur with their prominence. The tests clearly show that oil economy may be amplified with the use of water powered cars. Similarly, other effects such as the following are observable–the Ford can save 60 percent of oil, savings with Toyota range from 50 percent to 107 percent, the 350 V8 van at 50 percent, and the Cadillac at 70 percent.
Moreover, you don’t have to make use of barrels of water to make the car run. One jar of water may survive for a couple of months since the electrolysis process converts it to approximately 1833 gallons of combustible gas. You must realize that by using water powered cars, you are actually doing the environment an important favor. Instead of producing the harmful carbon dioxide content that worsens the condition of global warming, you will actually be contributing more oxygen to it.

After a century of hard work, Ford Motor Company now stands as one of the world’s largest automakers. This American automotive manufacturing giant embarked on humble beginnings through the passion and vision of Henry Ford in 1903 at the company’s shabby assembly lines in Detroit, Michigan. As Ford purchases a variety of the raw materials that it uses in the production of Ford parts from numerous suppliers around the world, it also sells its cars and trucks everywhere after they are produced from about a hundred different development and manufacturing facilities. Although it suffered from management troubles in the 1950s and struggled in the 1970s and 1980s with the tough competition presented by the Japanese imports, the company eventually regained its pioneering glory as it became the brand of almost half of all the cars for sale in the United States. The company sold approximately 6,818,000 vehicles all over the world. By now, it has stretched its long line of brand names to include Mercury, Lincoln, Volvo, Land Rover, Jaguar and Aston Martin.
Ford Motor Company offers a reputable variety of trucks that are fit for the toughest conditions. Each of its truck models is manufactured with the finest materials that garner the most positive approval even from other automakers. Only best-in-class Ford truck parts are fitted into these prestigious models. Moreover, security and strength is indisputably outstanding. When it comes to fuel economy, the efficient integration of various Ford parts let the brand’s four-wheeled beasts zoom across miles and miles. Amazingly, even original reproduction of restoration parts for antique, classic, and obsolete Ford models can be still purchased to supply the genuine function for which Ford truck parts are intended.
When Ford makes its trucks, its main concern is to make all of its merchandise meticulously made. As it is a company whose concern lies not only on the name it holds but also on the excellent products and services that it is able to provide as response to the needs of its clients, .on consumer demands, Ford parts are ultimately turned into a mirrors. They give back exactly what people want together with the premium quality that is exactly what Ford is about.
